A vet’s guide to pet-friendly flowers
Sending flowers to someone with pets? Or come home to some and have a dog or a cat?
We’ve teamed up with the Blue Cross Pet Charity to find out what’s safe for them to be around and what they should steer clear of.
Blue Cross helps sick, injured and abandoned animals at its hospitals and rehoming centres across the UK. And their Head of Veterinary Services, Caroline Reay BVSc MRSVS, has pulled together a helpful list so you know exactly what to keep away from pets.
Caroline began working as a vet for Blue Cross in 1987 after graduating from Bristol University. She has a certificate in radiology, a diploma in companion animal welfare and is a member of the British Small Animal Veterinary Association. So she’s our go-to expert for all our animal queries.

Some parts of these stems can be harmful or even deadly to dogs so don’t keep them in the house:
