Keeping your Tiny Tree happy over Christmas
A happy tree now makes for an easy replant later. To keep yours looking lovely for four weeks or more:
Water it once a week over the sink, focusing on the centre of the pot.
Keep it away from radiators, fires and direct sunlight, which can dry it out.
Let any extra water drain away. Soggy roots are no fun for anyone.
When to replant your tree
We recommend repotting your Tiny Tree in early January, once the decorations have come off. Pop the lights and decs back in their bag, ready for next year.
How to replant your Tiny Tree
Our Tiny Trees are rooted Norway spruces, so they're happiest outdoors. Here's how to give yours a new home:
Choose a planter a little bigger than the 13cm pot your tree arrived in, with a drainage hole in the bottom.
Fill it with multi-purpose soil and make a little well in the middle.
Gently lift your tree out of its pot, remove the bag around the roots and pop the roots into the well.
Cover with a few inches of soil and pat it down so your tree stands nice and tall.
Keep it outside in a sheltered spot, like near a wall or on your porch, and water it regularly.
Looking after it all year round
Christmas trees love cooler weather, so yours will feel right at home outside. In summer, move it out of direct sunlight and water it a little more often so it doesn't dry out. Want to keep that classic Christmas tree shape? Just trim back any dry or unruly branches.
When December rolls around again, bring it inside gradually. Leave it outside during the day and inside at night for about a week, so the warmth doesn't come as a shock. Then it's ready to be dressed up all over again. For more tips, have a read of our guide to caring for a potted Christmas tree.
